I didn't expect anyone to say that. Maybe you could ask your brother. DotA is a game that use Warcraft heroes as characters. there are 2 sides, Sentinels and Scourge. Sentinels are mostly elves and nature creatures or basically "good" heroes. Scourge is undead and "evil heroes". They could go up to level 25.
It's like "destroy your enemies fortress" thingy, but if in other games you control a whole army, in DotA, you jut play as 1 hero. That makes you concentrate on improving your own weapon and skills. You could play it online or offline.
you control a hero. Maximum players are 5 on 5. Could be replaced by CPU. the smaller/lower soldiers are called creep. They also CPU controlled. Anyway, it's too much to tell here, just ask someone else

Okay, there's about 90 or more characters to use. each of them have 4 skills. 3 normal skills and 1 super-skill called Ultimtae (we players call it Ulti). Each time your level is raised, you get 1 skill point. You use these Skillpoints to improve your skills. There is also a skill that all your stats (strength, agi, int) by one. You could use it up to 10 times.
Some skills required high level. All ulti need to be at least level 6. But you could get one of the normal skills when you're still level 1, but some skills have their own "pitstop".
Example : a normal skill called dual fire, need at least level 1 for the first phase, level 3 for the second phase, level 7 for the 3rd phase, and lvl 11 for the last phase. Ther are 4 phases of each normal skills. When you upgrade it to higher phase, it does more damag and effectthan the last phase.
Usually players call thee 3 normal skills with Skill1, skill 2, and skill3. Skill1 is usually the character's main ability. The most common move you'll use. Skill2 is the hero's secondary move. It's just a little something to help when skill 1 is in cooldown. Basically, just like a sidearm. Skill3 is ususally a passvie skill. A skill that adds stats or add some effects to your hero like making him/her regenerate when attacks enemies.
Cooldowns are a time limitation where your hero need to regroup itself to use that skill again. Usually skill1 and skill2's cooldown is only about 10-20 seconds. Some agi-based heros could have skills that have 1-5 second cooldown. Skill3 doesn't need cooldown since it's passive.
Each charcters could carry 6 items. These items could improve your character's ability in combat. It could add speed, movement, attack power, teleprtation, and even drain ability. there are some items that enable the user to summon mini-heroes to help them.
Some of these items could be combined with each other, resulting on even more powerful item. There's a rare item that's really hard to get, called the Divine Rapier. It gives 250 damages to your hero's damage. It means everytime it attacks, it delivers your hero's damage+250. That could kill a moderate agi hero in 3 or 4 punches

Do the DotA most rare item is Divine Rapier?

It is considered that since to get a Divine Rapier you need 2 Claymores (2100 gold each), and 1 *blablabla* Relic (3800 gold) that gives a total of 8000 gold total. It's hard to get since when you're killed by another player, a part of your gold is taken.
Divine Rapier is special, when your hero died, all of his/her items is gone with him/her and reappear when your hero is ressurected, but Divine Rapier will drop if your hero get killed. meaning, after your hero died, the Divine Rapier fell from your item slot and dropping it at the place you died. enemies could either use it against you, or destroy it

Yes, it's actually a 'double edged sword'. When it's on our side, we'll be almost invincible, but when it's on the other side, it could be our doomsday.
Remember what Peter Parker says "Great Power comes with Great Responsibility"

Oh yeah, on DotA, ulti skills are incredibly strong, of course by the name Ultimate.
Some of the heroes could shapeshift using their ulti skills like tranforming into a Demon, a giant bear, or even a wolf. Some of them could create creeps to order like creating small demons from corpses, and creating guardians from trees. But mostly Ulti skills are their "final Blow".
Some of them have elemental powerblow like fireblast, flame pillars, freezing blast, hurricane, and someother. The other have physical skill as their ulti like a deathblow using an axe, super stab with spear, or something like that.
There are special skills that only 1 hero could use it (actually each heroes have their own skills but these ones are special)) like ressurection, damaging teleportation, and even decreasing other's stats.

Do the Hero Ultimate skill is "Final Blow"?

Post by chaosr1d3r on Jun 4, 2009 4:14:55 GMT
All Ultimate skill is the Hero's final blow. Like a secret move. Examples, you know naruto right? I bet you know.
If naruto is a DotA hero, then :
skill1 : Kagebunshin no jutsu skill2 : Rasengan skill3 : Kyuubi chakra (heal him a little) skill4 : Kyuubi Transformation
